What is Upcycling?
Upcycling is the art of taking materials that would otherwise be discarded and turning them into something of greater value. The term Upcycling was first used in 2002 by William McDonaugh and Michael Braungart in their book Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things.
According to the Dictionary of Sustainable Management, upcycling is “The process of converting an industrial nutrient (material) into something of similar or greater value, in its second life. Aluminum and glass, for example, can usually be upcycled into the same quality of aluminum and glass as the original products.” http://www.sustainabilitydictionary.com/u/upcycle.php
If we all do our part to control waste, no matter how small of an effort, we are making the world a better place.
